Day 8: Rest day in Southampton

The rest day starts with rain

 

Heute: Ein Ruhetag. 

Zumindest, was das Radfahren angeht. 

Auf einen bunten, trubeligen Abend

folgt ein ruhiger, langsamer Morgen. 

 

Zelten im Garten bei Christiane

bis der Regen einsetzt, 

Kaffee, Frühstück, packen.

Nachmittags dann: 

Abschied in Bournemouth 

mit Besuch der Gemeinde aus Portsmouth, 

der letzte Abschiedsgottesdienst.  

Ich denke an euch alle, 

wenn es jetzt weiter geht 

und ich bin so gerührt davon, 

mit wie viel Liebe ich hier verabschiedet werde. 

 

Morgen schwinge ich mich wieder aufs Rad, 

hoffentlich ohne Regen, 

90km, 

zum ersten Mal auf dieser Tour

an der Küste entlang. 

 

Ich freu mich, dass das Meer 

bis kurz vor Hamburg

nicht mehr von meiner Seite weicht. 

 

Und Dienstag ist dann

der Abschied der Abschiede 

(und dann ists auch wirklich gut) - 

Dienstag geht die Fähre.

Bournemouth =)

 Today: A rest day.
At least a little rest from cycling. 

A day full of people and action
is followed by a quiet, slow morning.
 
Camping in Christiane's garden
until the rain starts,
coffee, breakfast, packing.

Not many words,
but: fellowship.

Then in the afternoon:
Farewell in Bournemouth
with a visit from the Portsmouth congregation,
the last farewell service. 

 

I'm thinking of all of you,
as my journey continues now
and I am so touched by
by the warm and loving goodbye here.
 
Tomorrow I'll get back on my bike,
hopefully without rain,
90km,
along the sea for the first time on this tour.
 
I'm glad that the sea stays by my side

almost till Hamburg.
 

Tuesday then 

is the the goodbye of goodbyes
(and then I'm really done with it) - 

 
The ferry leaves on Tuesday.

 

My tour has finally brought me to the sea.
